Wednesday, November 9, 2022.  Hafeshwar Mahadev Mandir, Hafeshwar to Shree Hanumanji Mandir, Dahi

We had our customary tea at the ashram at 7:00. There are two newborn calfs. Two cows gave birth yesterday just before we arrived The newborns have no fear. They let me pet them without being stressed. The ashram has many other cows as well.  We took temple Darshan and started walking. We have been walking through many small towns. We came to the Gujarat/Madhya Pradesh (MP) bordered and noticed that there were border patrol and military personnel with guns etc.  We simple walked through. But wondered what that was all about. We stopped at a shop to get a cold sprite. When we asked the shopkeeper, he said that there are elections coming up in Gujarat and they have increased border patrol to control contraband goods (guns, drugs, etc. ) going through. We were in town called Bakhatgarh in MP.  We noticed the sudden change in the hospitality. We had walked only about half a kilometer and had been offered tea twice. We couldn’t resist the second time and had some tea. After walking for another kilometer we were offered tea again. This time by a lady shop owner. She was sitting in front of her shop that was the front room of her house. We told her we just had tea. She said well then have some water. Her insistence made us stop.  We sat in the covered porch and had some water. We were planning to stop for lunch in the ashram which was a short distance from this shop. She seemed to want to talk. We told her our details and what our plan was for lunch. She said why don’t you have lunch here. The ashram make simple food that is very spicy. I have already made a Subjji. All have to make is Roti, Rice and Daal. And immediately she went into her kitchen to start cooking. Her neighbor, a younger lady with a 18 month old daughter, also went in to help her. We called Sunilji to come back from the ashram. I asked to use the restroom. I was shown to the back of the house. I was welcomed into kitchen to see them cook. They were both working in unison without skipping a beat. Within one hour they had finished cooing three fresh dishes and served us a full meat including a sweet  (Coconut Barfi). We both ate more than what we thought we could. Food was so delicious. Perfect spice level. The homemade mango pickle reminded me of my childhood. It was so yummy.  We thought we had overeaten yet when we started walking after a short rest we did not feel heavy at all. We exchanged phone numbers and name a to keep in touch. We did not stop at the ashram down the road. As we walked in the afternoon Sun we often took short water break. At one such break we stopped under a tree with a branch that was just perfect to climb and sit. We just had to do justice. We stopped here longer than just a short break. Around 4:00 pm we decided to get in the car and go the ashram for the night stay. We reached an Ashram where we thought we would stay for the night. Baiju had his work call from 5:30-6:30. We realized there were no bathrooms in the ashram. We said we would leave after the call. In the mean the Maharaj Gopal Sharma ( one of the Parikramavasi we have been meeting) was there and he was making Khichadi for the night. He asked us to eat and then go. We said we would. This place is run by an older Sadhuji. He expressed is sadness in not able to cook for the Parikramavasis and only giving them supplies to cook for themselves. I went to the back of the ashram where the outdoor kitchen was setup. With Gopal there two other Parikramavasis cooking. I asked if I could help. They said sure. I helped them find some Whole Moong and Haldi for the Khichadi. The order in which the ingredients went in I was doubtful all the ingredients will cook properly. But somehow it turned out good. Earlier in the day someone had given us a pouch of buttermilk which came in handy with the Khichadi. After eating we were ready to stay till we found out that we would have to go to bathroom on the side of the road. It was only 7:00 pm. We decided to try our luck at the next ashram. We reached Shree Hanuman Mandir in Dahi at about 7:45 pm. At least there bathrooms here. Never mind the condition.  The novelty of the place was that we were sleeping in the open hall of the temple right in front of the Gods. There were about 10-12 travelers there already. Maharaj asked us if had eaten and we said yes. We set up our place to sleep and were ready to sleep. Today we walked 17.4 kms.
